History of the Bromsgrove & District MGOC

In 2002 Christopher & Christine Grove of Hunnington, purchased a MGB ,then located the local MG Club and became members. However after a few weeks the then Area Secretary closed this section. So Chris & Christine picked up the reins and put an advert in the Halesowen News in hope to restart the club.

A date was set,7th May 2002 and a venue was chosen,The Manchester Inn,20 MG Owners turned up for the first meeting with 12 of those coming back to the next meeting and thus restarting the Bromsgrove & District MGOC.

Chris took the role of Secretary with Christine giving full support, from those people present a support team was established consisting of a Minutes secretary,Treasurer and 3 members to run and organise events(prior to all this happening Chris  & Christine had taken on all roles)

The Club ran successfully with Chris being promoted to Area Secretary.

However in February 2007 Chris chose to pass the reins to John Roden due to a decline in his health.

By this time the club had moved to the Somers Club at Hagley and the club had grown to 43 (22cars)

In 2010 the club had reached 50 members and a decision was made to relocate to the Gate Inn at Bournheath where meetings were held in the Conservatory.

In 2011,John Roden stepped down as secretary and Phil McNeil took over the role of Secretary and Website Administrator.

The Club started to become more organised with a Chairman,Secretary,Treasurer and Events Team.

Since moving to the Gate Inn ,in 2010,the club has steadily grown in membership size, which is 75 (37 cars).

From 2013 the club had been on the move more times than Pickfords and finally ended up at the Lickey End Social Club,in May 2016.

Membership is steady at 90 members(45cars) with new members attending all the time.
